Christmas Pantomime 2013
Posted by Unknown
We are
excited to announce that on Thursday 28th November 2013 Pyramid
Players are bringing their production of Aladdin to Oakwood.
There will
be two performances of the pantomime at 4:30pm and at 6:00pm. Both performances will have the same content
and be suitable for children between 3 and 12.
Each performance will last approximately one hour with no interval. Tickets are priced at £7.50 for adults, £6.50
for children.
FOO will be
serving a snack tea of sausages in buns, ice cream and a drink in the dining
hall from 3.30pm. The cost of tea is £3
per person and must be booked with your panto tickets.
The event is
a parent supervised, FOO event so you will need to collect your child(ren) from
their class or club on the day and supervise them in the dining room, in the
Lyne Hall and in between. We have tried
to arrange meal and performance times to suit all age groups and pick up times
and hope that everyone will be able to join in and enjoy this festive event. If you intend to send your child with someone
else then please give their name when purchasing tickets. Please note that there needs to be one adult
for every six children.
If your
child is singing at the Cross in Chichester on the same night then you will
need to book for the earlier performance.
At the end of the first panto performance, we will ask the choristers to
leave first so that they can make their way to Chichester in good time to sing.

FOO Committee and FOO survey
Posted by Unknown
The current FOO Committee are coming to the end of their term in office and a new Committee and Chair will be voted for at the AGM on Friday 28th June.
We would be delighted if anyone interested in taking part would put their name in the FOO box in the office.
FOO provides a wonderful opportunity to get involved in Oakwood life and we welcome any parent regardless of how much spare time you have! Should you have any questions about what being on the Committee involves, please contact Jenny Howlett (FOO Chair) at jennyhowlett@me.com.
In order to help the new Committee, we have put together a very short survey to gather opinions and ideas for the year ahead. We would be very grateful if you could take just a few minutes to complete the online survey. Please find the link for the survey below.
Kind regards,
The FOO Committee

Friends of Oakwood – What is FOO and what does a Class rep do?
Posted by Unknown
The Friends of
Oakwood School group or FOO is made up of parents who organize various fun activities for the children and parents throughout the year and provide a link
between class parents and school about general areas of concern and suggestions
for improvement.
The FOO was
formed:
- To foster friendship between the parents, staff, pupils and all those who come into contact with the school
- To promote and support the School
- To enhance the standards of the School's buildings, grounds and equipment through fundraising activities
- To organise fun events that can be enjoyed by pupils, parents and staff
Monthly
informal meetings are held in the Library after Friday Assembly (usually the
first Friday of each month). The dates
for these meeting can be found in the school calendar, on the School website and on
the School noticeboard. One FOO meeting
a term is held in the evening to include those who are not able to attend
during the day for work reasons.
Each class has
a representative, or sometimes two people who decide to share responsibilities
such as:
- Welcoming new pupils and parents
- Attending meetings with school management (once a term)
- Disseminating information from the school that is class specific
- Organising parent social events
- Attending monthly FOO meetings and promoting FOO events to class parents
- Organising end of term/year teacher gifts etc.
These reps work
on a voluntary basis, usually for a year and it can be a great way for new
parents to get to know other parents, pupils and staff members.
Should you be
interested in becoming a class rep for your class In September 2013, please
contact your current FOO representative below:
